Gray Plate

Is it illegal to have tinted license plate protectors?
I bought a tinted license plate sheild at kragen last night to protect my lisence plate, obviously.
Is it illegal? It looks dark gray, but nonetheless, you can still SEE the plate numbers.
But anyways, the main question is:
Is it illegal?
It’s lightly tinted…
i’m in California
I know the law in Ohio says you must display you license plates. When you put a cover on it and it gets dirty you can’t see any thing but the dirt. An uncovered plate still shows the raised numbers. Step off to the side and look at the plate. The farther to the side you get the less visible it is. Distance makes them harder to see also. A dark cover makes it even harder to see. If I was a car thief I would prefer a car with a covered license plate because it makes to plate harder to see by the police. As the covers age they become less clear and almost impossible to read at any distance. I was a trooper for 30 years and stopped a lot of people with the covers and the ones who got tickets I took pictures of how difficult it was to see the plate for court. You might want to take the cover back to the store.

Don’t Destroy the Dummy!
If you have ever purchased a mobile phone from a high street store you will have seen the dummy handsets that they have on display. You may have noticed that the dummy handsets are usually a bit worse for wear – and there is a logical reason why they always look slightly tatty!
Carphone Warehouse have been deliberately scuffing the dummy handsets in their stores to deter thieves from stealing them! You may find it odd that dummy handsets are stolen from stores, but it seems to be a very common problem. Thieves steal the dummy for many reasons such as selling on parts of the handset (the casing etc.), purchasing a new handset and then return the dummy handset or sell them fraudulently as real handsets on internet bidding sites for example.
Unfortunately scuffed and damaged display handsets are not a very good indication of what the real handset will look like and in some cases the scruffy looking handsets have been stopping people from purchasing the real handset. Bosses are concerned that they are losing sales and have therefore warned staff not to deliberately destroy dummy handsets.
Due to the theft problems, Carphone Warehouse will be rolling out new and improved display backing plates in September. The new system will mount the handsets to the display in a more secure way. The new backing plates will make it more difficult for thieves to steal the dummy handsets, and the shiny new dummy display models will hopeful entice customers to purchase the real deal!

San Francisco 49ers Team Report
Impressed by his handling of the draft, the 49ers promoted Trent Baalke to vice president of player personnel. The job comes with a four-year contract and more responsibility but stops short of giving him general manager duties.
