Bewdley – Nearby Attractions

Bewdley is a town in the heart of the West Midlands of the United Kingdom. It has attracted tourists for hundreds of years for its serene riverside atmosphere and events which take place every year. If you happen to find yourself there when these events are not taking place you can simply enjoy one of the bars or restaurants which line the river Severn. Alternatively there are several attractions nearby which are certainly worth a look.

Every year this town hosts a carnival during June, a regatta during July and an arts festival during October. There is also a Christmas market and a New Year tradition of sailing paper ducks down the river to race in their hundreds. Aside from these annual attractions there are several attractions nearby which are a must see if you are in the area.

The Bewdley Museum catalogues the working history of Bewdley. Located next to the tourist information centre, daily demonstrations of clay pipe and rope making can be witnessed harking back to the 19th century. Scenic Quenn Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee gardens and tearooms are accessible from Easter to October. The Severn Valley Railway has a station in Bewdley that allows you to see the river Severn from the comfort of an authentic steam train. The West Midlands Safari Park is located on the outskirts of Bewdley. On offer are exotic animals and exciting rides which are sure to provide a full day of entertainment. Surrounding picturesque villages such as Arley, Rock and Wolverley are all within 6 miles of Bewdley. They provide a relaxing retreat for visitors who want to visit the Arboretums of Arley and Wolverley or the village show in Rock (held in August).

The Wyre forest visitors centre (2.5 miles from Bewdley) provides another location for tourists to enjoy woodland trails for walking or cycling and a restaurant overlooking changing woodland displays.

The next time you are in the Midlands, stop by Bewdley and enjoy the peaceful lifestyle a riverside town in rural England enjoys and remember the surrounding attractions are never too far away.
