Jack Speaker

Hooking a record player receiver to a modern 2.1 speaker set through a rca jack?
I have a 3.5mm jack and an RCA input on these speakers. My receiver for my record player has speaker wire inputs only. Will the amplifier in the receiver be able to work with the speakers and the sub in this 2.1 system or will splitting the rca to speaker wire only work for the speakers and leave the sub without a signal?
Your question isn’t very clear, but it sounds like the 2.1 speakers are computer speakers (they have a 3.5 mm stereo and RCA input jacks), and therefore have a built in amplifier. If so, you can’t take the output from the record player amp and feed the speakers … you would overload the speakers). IF the amp has a pre-amp output (look for short wires between pairs of RCA jacks on the back of the amp), you may be able to take the preamp output to the 2.1 speakers.
BTW, the amp doesn’t have “speaker wire inputs only” … those are outputs, not inputs. You can’t just bypass the amp and feed the record player direct to the 2.1 speakers either because a record player cartridge outputs a very low signal that needs both pre-amplification and RIAA equalization (usually provided by the phono input circuit on an appropriate amplifier, but can be done by a stand alone phono pre-amp).
Your options are 1) record player >> stand alone phono-preamp >> 2.1 speakers; 2) record player >> phono input of your “record player amp” >> pre-amp output from amp >> 2.1 speakers; 3) use the record player and amp with regular (non-PC) speakers.
Hope that helps.

Shopping For Car Speakers
If you have your own car and if you have bought it recently you know then exactly how much time of the day you will be spending in zipping around in it. However, there is another thing that you must be busy doing besides only driving your car and that should be listening to the radio which has now become an integral part of somebody owning and driving a car. Whether it is listening to the radio or your CD’s or any song from any source; music and cars seem to go along very well. However the fact is that the kind of audio system that your car manufacturers will provide you with after you initially buy the car will surely not suffice for the kind of quality of sound and music that you would be desirous of. So to combat this; the easiest thing to do is to replace the manufacturer built speakers for your car audio system and buy some good ones which would instantly improve the quality of sound on your car audio system. Upgrade your car speakers for better sound quality and performance. This type of upgrade has become so popular that shopping for car speakers is incredibly easy–or at least it should be.
The first thing you should do when you do before you go shopping for the speakers of your car is that you need to figure out what kind of a budget you should fix for the speakers. Your budget means the amount of money you would be willing to shell out for the speakers of your car audio system. This fixing of a budget will determine what kind of speaker you should go for. Depending your budget you would also be able to decide whether you should go for new speakers or you should go for speakers that have already been used; second hand speakers. It is true that second hand speakers that have been maintained well and that belongs to a good brand and that the company is reputed; then these speakers even if they are second hand would actually be of good enough quality for your car.
After you have fixed the budget next you should decide on the features that you want. Speakers for a car audio system of course has very limited choice of features but nevertheless depending on the limited features that you have to decide from choose and fix the brand of manufacturers that you are planning to go for. Once you have the brand decided you would be pretty set to go and purchase the speakers. However always keep in mind that you should also keep a look out for second hand speakers that are of a good brand as these would be less expensive than the original brand new one but it would have the same quality.
To change the entire experience of your car audio listening you should first go ahead and change the speakers that came along with the car and that should be good enough.
