Power Meter
Smart Meter kWh to power consumed in 10 minutes?
My PGE Smart Meter reading went up by 4kWh in 10 minutes i.e.
At time = T0, the reading was 3074 kWh
At time = T= + 10 minutes, the reading was 3078kWh.
What does mean i.e. how much power was consumed within these 10 minutes ?
What information does this convey about the wattage rating of the device used ?
a problem that exists is, we don’t know what the increment is.
for example, if the meter only changes every 4 kwh, (adds 4 kwh at a time)
then you used somewhere between 0.0001 and 7.9999 kwh in that 10 minutes.
if the meter consistently updates for every kwh, then that means you’re using 4*6=24kw. Which is 24*24=576 KwH per day. I find that unlikely, to say the least. Unless you have an indoor pot farm big enough to supply your state.
however, 24 Kw could be true if your hot water heater, and spa heaters were both operating, along with oven, a/c, and several other appliances.
it does seem a bit high for a home though.
probably what you want to do is check it every day, or every other day, to get a better idea.
