Vox Throat
2 way radios (with VOX) advice needed?
I’m trying to buy 2* 2 way radios from ebay or amazon (need to be able to attach throat mics) I’m torn between midland and motorola and am on a budget preferably less than £70
Any Advice or suggestions??

and to answer the first answer, because we use them when we cycle like many others so stop being miserable and wasting peoples time with rubbish answers!!!
I initially also wondered what this has to do with biking, but I think you’re thinking of riding with a group, probably a family and using em to keep from getting lost? I’ve never done that biking, but we always do when we go hiking and it has prevented some pretty big emergencies.
Anyway I don’t know too much about about radio companies, but I’ve used motorola with good results, but I also know some people who have broken theirs, albeit it was from dropping em off small cliffs and things, not exactly something you’d expect it to survive from I suppose lol. Several years ago Catfish were a relatively unknown eating fish to most people, that don’t have a drawl to their speech.
Most people from the northern climes, in fact, mostly consider these species a rarity to the dinner or supper table. Most likely, that consideration is due in large part to ignorance of how good this fish is to eat and what a variety of ways it can be prepared for the diner’s delight!
The most popular variety of catfish is called Blue Channel Catfish, named mainly for their preferred streams (channels) and rivers they inhabit, throughout the southeastern U.S. and most other parts of the United States. Although they are not as much fun to catch as other fish species (they mainly let you drag them to your position, without much of a fight), they make up for their lack of participation by being extremely easy to catch (catfish will bite, most any bait, or anything, even rotten, spoiled smelling baits are their favorites).
Although Blue Channel are the bigger of the two, “Farm-Raised” Catfish are the most popular catfish to eat. The farm-raised variety are smaller, generally, than their river living brethren. The biggest advantage to the farm-raised catfish is their farmer’s abilities to control the fish’s environment, and thus the catfish’s size, taste, and most importantly the fish’s health. They do this mainly by digging shallow square holes on their farmland, and then keep a keene eye on their “crop” as they grow. As the fish grow, they are moved from habitat (shallow holes) to habitat, with their farm families making sure to promote the larger, growing, young fish to the next tank and keeping the smaller, that haven’t kept up with their contemporaries in the current habitat.
Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama and Louisiana are the states that have the most “Catfish Farms”, providing about 95% of the total Catfish crop. In 1996, Mississippi ponds produced 334 million lbs. of the succulent crop. Once the “crop”, grow to about 1 – 1 1/2 lbs., they are harvested and sold to restaurants.
Over the past twenty years, Catfish “Farming” has become one of the most profitable businesses in the U.S., because of the growth in their popularity with the public at large to eat. They eat them, fixed a great variety of ways now. Their world-wide acceptance as a popular main food dish has now risen from the deep south, or the outcroppings of the back bayou, to now a popular fare at most hotels and major restaurants. The original fried catfish, fresh from the river has now turned to broiled, baked, filleted and whole, your choice has and will broaden greatly in the coming years.
Their are as many ways to fix Catfish as their are stars in the sky, but try the following which is my particular favorite:
The Cajun Baked Bayou Hot Fish Dish -
Original Recipe: Yield 4 servings
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper 2 teaspoons lemon pepper 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons salt 2 teaspoons pepper 1 pound catfish fillets 2 tablespoons butter 1 cup Italian-style salad dressing
Directions:
Step 1 – Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a medium baking dish.
Step 2 – In a shallow, medium bowl, mix cayenne pepper, lemon pepper, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Step 3 – Brush both sides of catfish fillets with butter. Rub fillets with the cayenne pepper mixture on both sides.
Step 4 – Heat a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat until really hot. Add fillets, and fry approximately two minutes, on each side, until slightly blackened.
Step 5 – Arrange blackened fillets in a single layer in the prepared baking dish, and coat with Italian-style salad dressing.
Step 6 – Bake 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until fish is easily flaked.
Step 7 – Serve on to plates with a green salad, Corn Pone and 1 slice of White Bermuda Onion!
Step 8 – Dig In for pure enjoyment!
