What velocity of a spacecraft is needed if an antenna (set 99.9MHz) was picking up radio station at 100MHz?
At what velocity -and- in what direction (away from or towards) would a spacecraft have to be moving if the spacecraft’s antenna (tuned to 99.9 MHz) was picking up a radio station on Earth transmitting at 100 MHz?
I’m completely lost! I know that v = lamda * f … so v = c and f = 1*10^6? I don’t know what that really tells me….

This is called the doppler shifts. For small frequency differences, the formula is:
v = c (f – f1)/f
v = 300,000 km/s (100 – 99.9)/100
v = 300,000 km/s (.001)
v = 300 km/s
