Do they make female component to male vga cables?
I ultimately want to connect a PS3 to my CRT monitor (it’s max res is 2048×1280). Games (not movies) are able to output a full 1080p over component on the PS3. So I take the component out of the PS3 and go into my VGA (or 5 cable BNC) monitor. Does this require active conversion or will a simple cable with the right connectors do?
You need a converter, If your monitor supports 2048×1280 I would expect it to have a DVI connection, in which case you should go with an HDMI to DVI cable or adapter.
DVI doesnt carry sound though, so you will need to use your bundled AV composite cable and maybe an RCA to jack adapter depending upon your sound inputs.
