Question for ameuter radio operators?
im wanting to put up a simplex autopatch for my family of ameuter radio operators and im curious if it would work if i made it out of Alinco DR-130 radio, Model MFJ-624DM autopatch controller and a connector made from 2 alinco mics, does this sound like a proper set-up, if not how would i set up a simplex autopatch, Thanks in advance -Cody
Close, but not quite. The MFJ-624DM has a mic connector for modular RJ-45 type mics. The Alinco DR-130 has a standard 8-pin mic plug, which would work better with the MFJ-624D or newer 624E (the E version has both 8-pin and RJ-45 connectors). The 624D comes with its jumpers set for Alinco radios so the original mic will plug right in the front and you would just need a patch cable (MFJ-5398) from the back of the 624D to the DR-130 mic jack. (The 624E will need jumpers set and the MFJ-5398 patch cable).

If what you are trying to do is set up a personal repeater-autopatch type arrangement, I don’t think this will give you what you want.
You might want to review the regulations concerning simplex autopatches. From the ARRL website:
“The most important point to remember is that a control operator must be present at both stations’ control points [97.105(a)]. The operation involves third-party traffic in that a third party is “participating” in amateur radiocommunication. This “participation” is permitted as long as each station involved has a control operator monitoring and supervising the radiocommunication continuously to ensure compliance with the rules [97.115(b)]; automatic control is not permitted [97.109(e)]. There is no problem if a control operator is present at the fixed station location. If, however, the mobile user wishes to act as the control operator of the fixed station, then a radio link must be used to remotely control the fixed station, and that link is an auxiliary station [97.213(a)]. The link therefore must be on frequencies permitted for auxiliary station operation [97.201(d)]. A simplex autopatch may not be controlled via a 2-meter link.”
If you intend to have a licensed operator at the home station to control the phone patch then you are ok.
