Does a dual military marriage in two different branches work?

My husband is currently an enlisted marine (E-3) and I am a nurse. i have been heavily considering joining the navy to be a nurse. Navy provides the health care for the Marine Corps so we would have a higher chance of being stationed together. I would also be an officer, so our rank would be different. He says that my being an officer when he enlisted first wouldn’t bother me, but I hope it doesn’t become a problem.

Then you could apply for a commission as a naval nurse.

Because the Navy provides medical care for the Marines.

You can apply for a joint spouse assignment.

And have a good chance of being stationed at the same base your husband is at.

But there will be times, if you both stay in the service, where you will be stationed at different bases.

So if being stationed apart is a non starter, then thats not what you wanna do.

Of course you can always stay a civilian and get a job at the base hospital as a nurse.

Then if he gets orders, you just transfer to the new base hospital.

As a nurse, you will never have trouble getting hired.
