i have installed a new uhf in my car using the excising coxal cable and antenna base in the car when i got it. how can i make sure the base is grounded good? and can i run a wire from the base to a good ground some ware in the car?

Yea You Can Run a wire to the chassy is your best idea just make sure the place where you ground it, is a non painted surface And you will be fine

A Fractal Antenna is an antenna that can be broken up into smaller parts. Fractal just means a part of, so in this scenario they are referring to an antenna that can have feelers added or removed. By doing this the Fractal Antenna is following a concept called the self-similarity design module. This basically means you can remove or add part of the design in equal parts. If you ever took a class in Fractal Geometry, you’d learn the mathematical reasoning behind this. The mathematics behind this device is governed by the Mandelbrot Set.
Benoit Mandelbrot is the father of modern day Fractal Geometry. These antennas operate by sending out special electromagnetic signals that cover a specific area or volume depending on how many Fractals the antenna itself has. Fractal Antennas aren’t large or cumbersome by any means. In fact they are very small and have real world application in cellular phones or microwave ovens and other small electronic devices. This antenna is unique in that it can operate at various different frequencies at the same time.
Most antennas have to be specifically rigged to operate at a particular frequency. The highest and best use of the Fractal Antenna is in both wideband and multiband products that require varying frequencies. The first published works of the Fractal Antenna came about by Nathan Cohen in 1995. The beauty of these types of antennas is that they are flexible, but not all of these will work on the same applications.
The two most common type of Fractal Antennas include the Koch Dipole and Common Bipole Antennas. The Common Bipole seems to have a stronger impedence than the Koch Dipole. You can adjust the size on these antennas upwards of two hundred to four hundred percent and maintain great performance.
What I personally feel about this technology is that it’s ironic that hundreds of millions of people all over the world are benefiting from it as we speak, however there’s probably at this point only 100,000 who even know about it and a lot less that really understand what it is. People go to school for years to learn how to develop such things. I think we all owe a debt of gratitude to Nathan Cohen for bringing this technology to fruition.
Now the question to ask yourself is, what effect will this technology play not only in Micro Electronics, but in the ability to create other similar inventions based on this one. A lot of people think that Fractal Antennas have to do with some type of illegal cable hookups. Far from it. As you can now realize, this technology is just one more aspect that makes life easier for all of us in one way or another in the 21st century. This will eventually allow developers to create smaller, more sophisticated yet User-Friendly products. Our review concludes that this is a definitely breakthrough in the electronics industry. Knowledge is cumulative which makes this invention so fascinating to us.

Some people get a mobile radio scanner because they enjoy following police and emergency vehicle responses or are assisting policy in some way in a volunteer capacity. Other people need the scanner because they live in an area that has such severe weather that they can be left in perilous situations if they are not aware of incoming storms or must be able to get help when there is not electricity.
Mobile radio scanners are available in many styles and designs that fit the individual needs of their users. Some scanners are manufactured with the built-in capability to send an emergency signal to police and emergency services departments. Other scanners are designed to be used both in a vehicle or as a base station in a home.
On average a mobile scanner will pick up a frequency up to 40 miles from the location of the scanner. This depends on the type of antenna and location of the individual. A magnetic antenna which uses the vehicle as the ground for the antenna often has a greater receiving capacity and clearer audio than other antennas. In addition, this antenna can easily be transferred to a home base unit to increase the capacity of a home antenna.
Glass mounted antennas are permanently attached to the glass on a vehicle. Some people use these antennas on their sun roofs. Other individuals place the antenna on the back window. Some of these antennas can be removed from the base unit. But most are permanent fixtures on the vehicle once they are installed.
There are hundreds of channels monitored by the scanner. When it reaches an active channel during search mode it will stop. The scanner also stores thousands of channels making it easier for a person to collect favorite channels or frequencies in one location. Some of the scanners are available in a VHF frequency that is used by police, military, air traffic, etc. The frequency for these scanners is 30Mhz to 300Mhz. If an individual wants a scanner with more range, they may select a scanner that include VHF and UHF capability which increases the frequency to 300Mhz to 3Ghz. These frequencies are often used by agencies on their two-way radios.
An individual can store thousands of channels on their scanner. It is possible to scan hundreds of frequencies per second. There are scanners manufactured that also can follow APCO-PC 25 digital frequencies and trunked systems. These frequencies are used by emergency services and security agencies in the federal, state, and local governments. Some of the transmissions of these agencies is encrypted and mobile radio scanners cannot receive them for security purposes.
There are many times when the mobile radio scanner that one selects will provide security. This is especially true of individuals who travel a lot or live in areas with severe climate changes. Having a mobile scanner that can receive important information when one is traveling, or emit an emergency beacon when a person is stranded is of enormous benefit to most people.

Does any one know why wireless communication’s base station has uni-directional antenna?
Usually, a communications base station needs to be sensitive in all directions. A vertical antenna is often used because it radiates well horizontally in all directions without wasting power out into space. Unidirectional antennas are better for communication between two base stations at fixed locations. In the microwave range, this is best done with parabolic reflectors which concentrate the power and sensitivity to a small cone, achieving what is called high gain. A high-gain transmitter antenna achieves a signal strength in one direction which would require many times the power with an omnidirectional antenna. A high-gain receiver antenna can receive signals many times weaker than what an omnidirectional antenna could receive.

BASE jumping is not a sport for the faint of heart. Athletes who practice this extreme sport climb to the top of tall buildings, canyons, or other structures; jump off; enjoy a period of free falling; then open a parachute and coast to the ground.
The acronym BASE stands for building, antennae, span, and earth; which make up a comprehensive list of what kinds of fixed objects BASE jumpers plummet from. Span is a term that includes all sorts of bridges, or any other structures that span over a valley or chasm. Earth means anything from cliffs to mountains to canyons.
BASE jumping is very dangerous for a variety of reasons, but the most common causes of injury and death have to do with failure to maintain a clear area around the athlete during the jump and/or the landing. If the wind is against them or if they make a mistake during the launch of their jump, athletes sometimes collide with the object that they have jumped from. Because BASE jumping areas are usually not designated for this guerilla-style sport, the makeshift landing targets that jumpers aim for are rarely large enough to allow for a safe jump. As a result many BASE enthusiasts meet with serious and sometimes fatal injuries because they haven’t been able to steer themselves to the landing area in time.
Many people compare BASE jumping to bungee jumping without a bungee cord, but it is actually much closer to skydiving without an airplane. Jumpers practice many of the same techniques that divers use to maintain stability and altitude awareness while they are in the air. Before becoming a BASE jumper, an athlete must complete a full course of skydiver training. Once they have their full skydiving certification, the next step for anyone interested in BASE is to find a mentor in the jumping community who can teach them how to take on these ambitious freefalls. Only experienced divers can even contemplate a BASE jump because this kind of unguided and somewhat unpredictable activity requires razor sharp awareness of altitude, along with stellar free fall technique.
BASE jumping is one of the most dangerous sports practiced today. Every year, BASE jumping leads to several fatalities, and most major BASE societies and clubs have seen at least one member perish in pursuit of the sport that he or she loved. Because no two jumps are alike, it is very difficult to predict what will happen once you start plummeting towards the ground. This means that to survive a BASE jump you need to have a very level head, an ability to react to surprises without panicking, and lightning speed reflexes that will allow you to make instantaneous adjustments in your position or your trajectory. However, no amount of experience can guarantee that you will complete your jump without mishap, so even very accomplished jumpers are taking serious risks every time they prepare to hurl themselves off of a building, antennae, span, or natural cliff.
