I think i might have a problem with my ear?

I am 16 years old. today in my class (I am taking a summer session at a college) in my left inner ear there seemed to be a vibration for about 5 seconds, but nothing in my right inner ear. it sorta sounded like an airplane flying overhead, but it was in only one ear. It didnt hurt, it just felt weird. does anyone know wat it is?

The high pitched squeal inside Dan’s work sounded as if a dentist’s drill search for a returning molar. There was no way of shutting it off. The invisible drill screeched night and day, and the one and only time he couldn’t hear it was when he was asleep. The ear is divided up into three regions, outer, middle and inner. The outer ear funnels sound to the eardrum, otherwise known as the tympanic membrane, which transmits it through ossicles, small bones in the middle ear, to the cochlea, the fluid filled inner ear. Vibrations are then picked up by the fluid in the inner ear which cause hairs called “cilia” to vibrate. The vibrations are translated into electrical signals and delivered to the brain. Somewhere in this process Tinnitus arises, and if medical science completely understood it, there might be more solutions to the problem. Ear Vibrating

CAUSES ARE NUMEROUS, CURES ARE FEW There are at least 14 possible conditions that can give rise to Tinnitus.

1. Noise damage. 90 percent of all tinnitus cases are usually associated with hearing loss due to the destruction of the cilia in the inner ear.

2. Wax buildup. If this is the case, get it professionally removed.

3. Meniere’s Disease.

4. Environmental Exposure, primarily to cold conditions.

5. Medications such as Aspirin, Quinine, Antibiotics, and Anti-Inflammatories.

6. Stiffening of the bones in the middle ear. Ear Vibrating

7. Cardiovascular problems such as Hypertension or Atherosclerosis (If your Tinnitus seems to pulsate with your heartbeat, you may have Pulsatile Tinnitus). 9. Tumors

10. Head or neck trauma.

11. Disorders and diseases such as hypo-hyperthyroidism or Lyme disease.

12. Age related — 60 and above.

What kinds of things can you hear on a short wave radio or ham radio? What is the difference between the two?

I know there are hobbyists who enjoy this, but I don’t know anything about it and wonder what people enjoy about it.

“Shortwave radio” technically includes all radio emissions on frequencies between 3 and 30 megahertz. Because some of those frequencies are used by ham radio operators, one could say that there is no difference. But that would be too simple. “Shortwave radio” in common parlance is the commercial, governmental, or religious broadcasting for public reception of entertainment, news, sports, music, or other programming on frequencies that can support long-distance propagation via the ionosphere. If you like listening to such programs for their intrinsic value, or spending time trying to hear hard-to-hear stations of that class without trying to make two-way contacts, shortwave listening is for you.

Amateur radio, which is what most people call “ham radio,” is a hobby and a communications service that generally involves the transmission and reception by licensed radio operators of noncommercial radio signals directed to other similar licensed radio operators on frequencies allocated for that purpose by world and national telecommunication authorities. Active participation in ham radio requires obtaining a license through successful completion of examinations administered by governments or other ham-radio operators, although anyone with the proper receiving equipment and antennae can listen to transmissions made by ham radio operators to each other.

I’m a ham radio operator, and I like knowing Morse Code (which many hams do) and being able to contact stations in distant lands with a simple transmitter/receiver combo using a simple wire antenna and only a fraction of the power that shortwave broadcasters use — I once made a contact while in the Eastern United States with a station in Mauritius while using 5 watts of power, an amount that would barely light a small light bulb!
